Hello! Hooray! blog
I really believe that it is so important to take time out to be creative, so here on my blog you will find lots of ideas of things to do in your creative time.
We spend so much of our lives focussing on our day jobs that we often miss out on time for making, but finding even small amounts of time to create something with our hands can have a big impact on our productivity and well-being.
Summer polaroid pictures
As August draws to a close, it really feels like the nights are drawing in and that summer is on the way out.
Violets Cafe
Violets Cafe has been on my list of places to visit for a while, and we decided to go for a late wedding anniversary treat – it’s my new favourite place!
Yorkshire Day parkin
1st August is Yorkshire Day, so we are celebrating by making some special Yorkshire Day parkin!
Our experience of Shared Parental Leave
When we found out that we were expecting our first baby, we decided that I wouldn’t write posts about Little One on my blog.
Craft workshops in Newcastle
Following my appearance on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour last month, I received so many lovely comments about my blog and the show – thank you SO much! It really meant a lot 🙂
Baked Spanish rice with chicken and chorizo
I realised recently that most of the recipes I’ve posted over the last few months have been for cakes! Well, they have all been cakes actually – haha! 🙂
#positivityremains
Today has been a bit of a strange day. We woke up to find that the UK had decided to leave the EU, and as one of the 48% of people who voted to remain I was pretty gutted to be honest.
Pecan cake with raspberry ripple ice cream
I really love getting back into baking again, and when I saw this recipe for pecan cake with raspberry ripple ice cream on Facebook I knew I had to give it a go!
Woman’s Hour
I love it when fun things happen unexpectedly, and this week I was approached by BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.
Future creative projects
Do you have a list of things that you’d like to make? I have one that’s as long as my arm!
Poppy pillow pattern
Before having Little One, I managed to make one or two bits and pieces that would come in handy. After having months of not doing too much crafting, I had a couple of weeks where all I wanted to do was bake and sew! 🙂
Orange and almond Victoria sponge cake
It has been a little while since I managed to do any baking – I did do a bit in the last couple of weeks of my pregnancy as I had a thing about flapjack (recipe here) and wanted to have cake in the freezer (so I made this honey, banana and almond cake).
Creativity takes courage
Sometimes, I think too much. I’ve had one of those days today and my mind has been wandering a bit – some of it good, some of it not so good! But then I remembered something that one of my friends posted on Facebook this week and it reminded me of the quote ‘creativity takes courage’.
Hello, little girl!
Well hello there, friends! It has been a long long time since I wrote a post on my blog…for those of you who are new here, I was expecting my first child in April. I’m pleased to say that she arrived safely and we are loving getting to know her.
Rainbow birthday cake
Hey everyone! Hope you’re all well? I was true to my word in my last post when I said that posts would be a bit more sporadic over here…lots of nesting and sleeping has been going on 🙂
A longer than expected blog holiday
Hello everyone! Long time no see…and I’m really sorry about that!
Shepherd’s Pie with oomph and aah
I love the book by The Incredible Indian Spice Men which accompanies the series of the same name.
Bits and bobs from August 2015
I genuinely have no idea where this month has gone! We’re finally on holiday now so it’s great to be catching up with things that need to be done and enjoying some well-needed rest. Today I’m sharing a few bits and bobs from August 2015.

Bits & bobs: July 2015
Hello! Sorry for my little blog absence over the past week or so. July was another really busy month – so busy, that I’m a little (well, quite) late with my monthly round-up post again!
Geometric meal planner
I’m so excited to be guest blogger over at Oh No Rachio! today with my geometric meal planner DIY!
Craft for the Soul
Pip Lincolne’s latest book, Craft for the Soul, came out in Australia earlier this year and having seen various snippets of it via Instagram and Pip’s blog I knew I’d have to read it!
A little bit about me and my blog
I have certainly found that being creative has helped to improve my mental health over the past few years. I find that when I have the space to take time out to be creative, I feel like I am working on something positive for me. Craft can't fix everything, but it certainly makes me feel good!
I am passionate about being creative with my children as well as working on my own projects, so some of my posts will discuss how we juggle our family time with running a small business and everything else in between.
Do feel free to get in touch, either by commenting on a post or by completing the contact form.
