This week saw the 250th anniversary of the birth of Earl Grey, and the monument built in his honour is open every Saturday this month. If you’d like to go up to the top yourself, you can book tickets at the NewcastleGateshead visitor information centre (in Central Arcade – see my post about the arcade here). Tickets are £3 for adults and £1 for children, and the tours last for 30 minutes.
