Vintage floral embroidery workshop

Have you ever wanted to learn hand embroidery? Or maybe you did it at school but quite fancy coming back to it?! Then this in-person workshop is just what you are looking for!

I am delighted to be opening my new studio in September 2021! This vintage floral embroidery workshop was one of my first ever workshops – it’s brilliant for beginners and is a wonderful introduction to hand embroidery.

What will I learn?

In this 2-hour vintage floral embroidery workshop, I will teach you everything you need to know to stitch a beautiful floral bouquet. The design is based on authentic vintage patterns, and is a perfect introduction to hand embroidery. It uses a variety of basic hand sewing stitches: straight stitch, back stitch, lazy daisy, French knots and satin stitch – so you don’t need to know hundreds of stitches to be able to create something beautiful!

I will introduce you to the basic materials required, and you will use a mixture of standard embroidery thread and perle thread. You will also learn how to transfer the design onto fabric using an air erasable pen.

What else is included?

All materials will be provided in this workshop:

  • 15cm (6”) hand painted beech wood embroidery hoop (in a colour of your choice – see additional photos)
  • Linen fabric
  • Air erasable pen
  • Thread
  • Needle
  • Pattern and full instructions (with step-by-step photos)

You will be able to borrow a pair of scissors on the day (one pair per person, and cleaned before use) but you can bring your own if you prefer. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided too – please let me know if you have any specific dietary requirements.

This listing is for one place on the workshop.

Covid info

Workshops are currently limited to 6 participants, in line with current Covid regulations. The front window will be open during the workshop, and surfaces will be cleaned before and after. There is space around the table to be socially distanced whilst stitching, and the sofa area can be used as well so that we can spread out. You are welcome to wear a mask during the workshop. If you have any questions or concerns, or would rather book a small group workshop for a bubble, please get in touch.
