Pretty wild poppies
Bits & Bobs: June 2015

My bits & bobs post for last month is a little late – sorry! I have been really poorly over the last week with this horrible virus that’s going around, so haven’t really been doing anything other than sleeping. And to be honest, I’m not really a sleepy person so it has been a bit strange for me! It felt like someone stole our weekend last weekend (Tom had it too) so we’re looking forward to doing some of the things we had planned to do this weekend. Fingers crossed for nice weather so we can get out in the garden! These poppies in the main photo are growing on the old waggonway near our house, and I’m keeping an eye on them so that I can get some seeds from them when they’re ready. Read More

Blogtacular 2015

It has taken me a few days to even begin to process all of the things I heard, saw and learnt at Blogtacular last weekend (which is why I’m only just getting around to posting this!). When I bought my early-bird ticket for Blogtacular 2015, I knew that this was an even not to be missed. Little did I know just how much I would learn about blogging or how many wonderful people I would meet when I signed up! It was simply amazing. I took so many photos and have so much to tell you, but I’m going to try to summarise it the best I can.

Bits & Bobs: May 2015 | Hello! Hooray!
Bits & Bobs: May 2015
It’s time for my monthly round up of Bits & Bobs for the month – yay! This month has been really busy in our day jobs, and I haven’t felt like I’ve had much time or headspace to do lots of crafting. So I’m really looking forward to having more time in June now that things will be a bit quieter!  Read More

Leicester University Botanic Garden
I was away at a conference this weekend with my day job, as a few of us were speaking about a reading test that we have developed for our international students. I was really worried about it, but thankfully it went much better than it played out in my head beforehand and I’m very relieved about this! On Saturday morning there was a bit of time where we didn’t really fancy going along to a talk, and as we were staying close by we decided to wander along to the Leicester University Botanic Garden. It really is an oasis of calm! And it was such a beautiful day, so it was really great to get some fresh air and enjoy the garden.  Read More

Mollie Makes specials
I am a huge Mollie Makes fan and when I saw that they had published another special, I knew it would be right up my street! The latest one is all about social media, and as I found the blogging special to be very helpful I decided to add it to my collection. I have been meaning to do a little review of them for ages and because this one is so good, it seemed like the perfect opportunity!  Read More

Bits & Bobs: March 2015
Regular readers of my blog may well have been expecting the usual Instagram Gallery on the last day of the month, but I’ve been having a little spring clean on my blog, and decided to mix things up a bit (I am also a little late with it for various reasons – sorry!). It was also prompted by one of the lessons in the Blog Life course that I’ve been doing with A Beautiful Mess, where they talk about having a little refresh every now and again. It was something I was wondering about changing for a while, especially as I’ve got my Instagram feed at the bottom of my pages (if you keep scrolling, you’ll get there!). I also wanted to share with you some different things too (in addition to some photos), like books I’m reading or things I’ve been listening to, or things that I want to share but don’t necessarily need a whole post. So this month I thought I’d just go for it and shake things up! I struggled to come up with a name for my new feature for quite a while…but settled on ‘Bits & Bobs’ because that really does exactly what it says on the tin. Bits & Bobs I’d like to share with you each month – so here goes! Read More

Birkheads Secret Gardens in spring
We went to Birkheads Secret Gardens for the first time last summer, and bought a season ticket so that we could go again. The gardens opened again a couple of weeks ago, and last weekend we went to have a potter around. The weather forecast had been great all week, but typically it changed by the time Saturday came around! It was incredibly windy but dry, so at least we managed to get out there and have a look at the lovely spring flowers.  Read More

Instagram gallery: February 2015
After a long January, February just seems to fly past! I have been a bit confused about the date over the last couple of days, so I’m pleased that March will be here soon and then hopefully I’ll know what’s going on… Here’s my Instagram gallery with a few of my favourite photos from February. Hope you’ve had a great month!  Read More

Instagram Gallery: January 2015

It’s time for my Instagram gallery for the month! January has been a hectic month here, but it has been a great one! I celebrated my 29th birthday, and our kitchen build is almost complete. I caught up with lots of friends and we survived the gales and a bit of snow, and I’m enjoying my 365 Grateful challenge. Here’s a gallery of some of my Instagram photos from January:

365 Grateful: Hello! Hooray! 2015

Have you heard of  365 Grateful? If not, don’t worry – it’s new to me too! I first read about it in Flow Magazine (international edition, issue 7) last month, and was really inspired by the story of how Hailey Bartholomew set up this project. She took polaroid photos every day in order to appreciate the little things in life that often pass you by, and she was amazed by the power of gratitude for these every day things. Since then, lots of people have taken up the 365 grateful challenge, and I have decided to do it in 2015!
