This year we took holiday in September – this is the first year that I’ve had to wait that long for a break, and was really tough! Despite being in the teaching profession, we don’t get the long summer break because our second intake of students each year finish mid-August. We thought that September would be quieter, and were hoping for an Indian summer…
…thankfully, the weather was beautiful all week, which is really good considering we headed over to Cumbria! I love spending time over in Maryport, and it was one of those holidays where we felt like we had been off for ages. Fab! Although now, after a week back at work, we could probably do with another one! I’ve been looking through our holiday snaps and thought I’d share a few with you. We went to quite a few different places during the week, but some of my favourites were taken around Maryport.
On our trips out and about, we went to Carlisle for the day – the main reason for this was because I needed to buy a new skirt, because most of the clothes I’d packed were to wear with my denim skirt…that I helpfully left at home! What a numpty! We’ve always just passed through Carlisle so it was lovely to have a proper look around. We also walked from Maryport to Allonby and back (which is about 10 miles) one day, and the next went to Ravenglass to go on the steam railway there. On that same day we went to Muncaster Castle and I had my photo taken with Fidget the barn owl – amazing! (I LOVE owls, in case you didn’t know…) No trip to Maryport would be complete without a round of crazy golf too!
I hope you’ve enjoyed looking through some of my holiday snaps 🙂
