Ok, so there’s still time to get a few things organised in January for the year ahead (well, just about!), and one thing that I’m never very organised with is my drawers. They are kind of like Monica’s closet on Friends, in that I generally just shove stuff in them but I’m then appalled by the state of them when I open them! Know that feeling? Well, I decided I’d have a go at making some simple fabric drawer inserts in an attempt to be a bit more tidy. I chose to use 4 different fabrics from the Petite Street collection by Dashwood Studios – I already had half a metre of the clouds fabric and the others were in the sale (yay!). The prints go so well together, and I knew that they would work perfectly for this project. Read More
I recently upgraded to the iPhone 6 and this gave me a good excuse to get out my sewing stuff and design a cover for it! I bought a plastic one too but I really don’t want to scratch the screen or anything, so a fabric case/pouch is perfect for protecting it whilst it’s in my bag or my pocket. There were two main things that I had in mind for this project: 1 – it had to be as slimline as possible, given that the phone itself is (and what is the point in making it really bulky?!); and 2 – it had to include some sort of thing for keeping my headphones nice and tidy. If there’s one thing I don’t like, its a knotted pair of headphones rattling around in my bag! Read More
I bought my Janome 525S last year and have been so happy with it. I have wanted to review it for you for a long time, and now that I have tried and tested quite a lot of the functions I feel like I’m in a much better position to do it! I was hoping to get it done before 2014 was out, but never mind…here goes! Read More
It’s that time of year where I like to get organised for the year, although it is a little more tricky this year given that our house is completely upside down with the building work! But I’m trying to sort things out where I can, and decided that I needed a little bit more storage for my ever-growing collection of craft magazines. I have had this project in mind for a while now and then I spotted this gorgeous fabric by Cloud 9 on sale in John Lewis and I knew that they would be perfect craft storage – and at £7 per metre it was a bargain too! Christmas is a pretty busy time for crafters, and this year has been no exception for me! I planned my Christmas gift makes for a few months, and now that the gifts have been given I can share them with you! I had to be quite clever with my planning this year – with all the kitchen work going on, I had to get anything that required making on my machine done first because I wasn’t sure if I’d have space for my machine once the living room had been re-jiggled. Thankfully, I did manage to work out a way of continuing my sewing whilst being surrounded by mess – it wasn’t pretty, but nothing will stop me haha! 🙂 I had two main projects to focus on, as well as my Christmas cards, and although I did intend to get ahead I was finishing off a little at the last minute as usual… Read More
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and although we’re not having a tree this year (on account of our fridge freezer and washing machine camping out in our living room) we have put up a couple of things to try and bit a little bit festive! I had my eye on these gorgeous mini glass baubles from Paperchase for a few weeks, and then came up with the idea for this little garland. The baubles are 2cm in diameter, so are just perfect for this project! It’s SO easy to make and you can have it made and on display in about 20 minutes. Yay!
