Making our wedding invitations (part 2)

It has been quite a while since we’ve worked on our wedding invitations. I remember lots of my married friends telling us how fast the time goes once you hit the year of the big day; I knew they were talking sense, but didn’t quite realise just how fast time would fly!

 

We have now completed the ‘outside’ of the invitations – hooray! And we’re so pleased that they look like what we had imagined! In my previous post – Making our wedding invitations (part 1) – we stamped the flower design onto squares of white paper and I finished making the envelopes. Now, we have stamped our names onto smaller pieces of white paper which are then stuck on the front. We stamped a mixture of ‘Clare and Tom’ and ‘Tom and Clare’ so that they’re all a bit different. Chinese New Year

Today is the start of Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, so I’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year! Many of the students who Tom and I work with come from China and no doubt they’ll be celebrating in style! We are often given gifts to mark the celebration, and Tom was given a beautiful book of paper cuts depicting each animal from the traditional Chinese story. 2013 is the year of the snake and I love the intricate design of this paper cut. Falafel Wraps with Grilled Veg

This is the final new recipe that we have tried out this week, and is another from Jamie’s 15-Minute Meals. I’m really impressed with this book – loads of lovely dishes that you can make during the week. As with some of the recipes from 30 Minute Meals it took me longer than the book suggested, but to be honest I’ll be making them again and will get much quicker so I’m not too bothered! Chicken with Tomatoes and Peppers

Another of the new recipes that we have tried out this week is Nigella Lawson’s Chicken with Tomatoes and Peppers. This is a super easy recipe to make and it’s really tasty, and you could cook it on a school night which is always great! I also think that leftovers would make an excellent lunch too, or just pop it in the freezer for another day. We served this with orzo pasta, but it would go well with green veg or some crusty bread.
